Excitement is mounting at a Canvey school as pupils prepare for an appearance on TV.
A group of children from Castle View School intends to outscowl Simon Cowell in their own version of Pop Idol.
ITV has drafted in 14 Year 7 pupils from the school to pass judgment on a singing pupil from another school.
The 11-year-olds have been sharpening their barbs to prepare for the filming on July 14.
Their make-or-break judgements will be broadcast as part of the Fame Or Shame section in a youth programme called Wised Up, which is shown on Sunday morning.
In Fame or Shame, aspiring singers have to sing in front of a panel to find out if they are heroes or zeroes.
If they fail to impress judges, they have to promise never to sing again.
Three of the Castle View pupils will show they can't only talk the talk but also walk the walk, by demonstrating their own skills.
