Team ethic is a winner for Clarets

Chelmsford City Assistant Manager Glenn Pennyfather has stressed the importance every single player has towards the goal of Conference South football as the Clarets venture to the Kent Coast to face Ramsgate on Saturday, kick-off 3pm at the Southwood Stadium.

The arrival of recognised marksman Lee Boylan up-front has boosted an already buzzing set-up at the top of the Ryman Premier though Pennyfather has intimated it will be a team effort if success is to be brought to City.

He said: "Jason Hallett lost his place in the starting eleven on Monday and Lee Boylan came straight in but Jason's reaction was O.K. as he knows it's a squad game. We have no injuries for the Ramsgate game so we'll go into it full of confidence."

Glenn was also quick to praise goalkeeper Ashley Harrison, who has been awarded the Ryman League's Golden Gloves Award' for conceding just one goal in February, continuing: "We know Ashley is a brilliant keeper but again it's a team effort as the defence in front of him had a part to play."

Manager Jeff King has done his homework on this weekend's opponents, who lost 3-2 at Worthing on Monday and 4-1 at Ashford Town (Middlesex) last week.

"We know some of their tactics and will approach the match in our usual way. It's good to have Richard McKinney back and available as we are lucky enough to have two excellent keepers to choose from," the Clarets' boss explained.

Ramsgate started the campaign well as promotees from Ryman League Division One as champions though they've found their football difficult of late and have slipped to ten points away from Chelmsford in top spot.

Five losses in their last six games speak for themselves though they have been defeated just three times on their own patch. Paul Wilkerson will be missing for the Rams through suspension.

Two coaches have been booked to Ramsgate and bookings are being taken at a frantic pace. The return fare costs £8 for adults and £5 for under 16s and seats can be booked with John Crumley on (01245) 283244.

The coaches will depart the Clubhouse at 11am and opposite the County Hotel at the top of Duke Street at 11.15am.
