THE family of a record-breaking teenager could be forced to take out a loan so he can represent Great Britain at an international sports event.
Cameron Lloyd, of Chapel Lane, St Osyth, has been selected in the GB team for the World Transplant Games in Thailand.
He won five gold medals and smashed seven seconds off the 50 metres butterfly record two years ago.
The 16-year-old is well short of the £6,000 needed for the trip in August.
Cameron, who is studying A-levels at Colne College, Brightlingsea, was diagnosed with an incurable liver disease when he was four and underwent a life-saving transplant six years ago.
His mother, Lisa Lloyd, said: "Cameron is very well at the moment and back into serious training with Clacton Sharks Swimming Club.
"The funding is not going at all well. I have written to more than 40 companies and old contacts, but it is just not happening.
"I will have to get a loan against my mortgage to send us there. He has worked so hard to qualify."
Anyone who can help should call Mrs Lloyd on 07770 531161.
