BUDDING Beethovens and Bachs have been treated to a classic concert with snippits of well-known tunes.

About 1,500 school children were encouraged to join in the music making as the BBC Concert Orchestra visited the Cliffs Pavilion.

CBBC presenters Adrian Dickson and Rani Khanijau, with conductor Robert Ziegler, guided children through an exciting selection of orchestral music from around the world including Africa, Denmark and America.

Paul Driscoll, marketing manager at the theatre, said: "The concert was especially designed by the BBC Concert Orchestra for children.

"It certainly was the first time we had done something like this with the BBC and it was incredibly popular.

"The schools really got behind it and supported it, which was great."
