Snooker: Alex receives a helping hand

Cue king Alex Davies has received a major boost in his quest to become a snooker professional.

The 19-year-old, from Clacton, has pocketed more than £2,000 in sponsorship after winning a prestigious star of the future' tournament in Wales.

He beat Grimsby's Stuart Carrington in the final of the Pontins-backed competition and duly picked up £200 in cash, plus a further £2,000 to go towards sponsorship.
