Concord want to snap Barking chance

From the archive, first published Friday 9th Mar 2007.

With the team immediately above them, Barking, involved in League Cup semi-final action, Concord Rangers will be looking to rise a place to fourth spot in tomorrow's Essex Senior League programme.

The Canvey-based side visit bottom club Stansted who have yet to win and have gained just two points from their 19 games so far.

With rain having washed out much of the programme in recent weeks, several clubs are well behind with fixtures.

Basildon United, with 14 still to play, have been worst hit and they will be desperate to get back into action at London APSA tomorrow.

Bowers & Pitsea have 13 games still outstanding following the postponement of Wednesday night's scheduled home game with Burnham Ramblers.

They will hope conditions improve enough to allow them to host a Barkingside outfit who are currently lying second tomorrow.

A win would see the Crown Avenue side into the top six as Burnham Ramblers, currently sixth, are also on League Cup duty.

Tilbury-based Eton Manor entertain Sawbridgeworth, while Southend Manor go to fourth from bottom Clapton.

Hullbridge Sports will bid to add to the gloom of hosts Beaumont Athletic, who have now conceded a whopping 113 goals in 23 games in their first season at Senior League level.

In the League Cup, Barking host Romford and Brentwood entertain Burnham Ramblers in the semi-final first legs.

* BARKINGSIDE earned the right to meet Brentwood in the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy final on Easter Saturday (April 7 3pm) when they won their semi-final 1-0 at Barking on Tuesday night.

The final will be staged at Burnham Ramblers' Leslie Field, Burnham, ground.
