Heybridge Swifts 1, Chelmsford City 1
A cruel late equaliser from former City player Ian Wiles put a near-fatal dent in his old employers' automatic title chances to steal two points away from Jeff King's side.
Lee Boylan had seemingly nicked all three points for the visitors in the closing minutes but a leveller from the Heybridge defender cancelled it out and handed the advantage to Chelmsford's championship challengers.
A four-figure crowd enjoyed the sunshine adorning this Essex derby and the usual local pride took hold of a match which had little in terms of notable attacks to offer until deep into the second half.
But with eight minutes left, Jeff Minton's side-footed effort bounced to Boylan a yard out and he put the Clarets in front in a game they had to win.
However, just three minutes later, a deep Danny Barber free-kick picked-out fit-again Wiles at the far post for him to half-volley beyond Ashley Harrison in the City goal and leave Chelmsford now needing to win all their remaining games and hope results go their way elsewhere if they are to have the merest hope of avoiding the play-offs.
