Man stabbed in unprovoked attack

From the archive, first published Wednesday 11th Apr 2007.

A MAN was stabbed in the head in front of his girlfriend in an unprovoked attack.

The 28-year-old couple were shouted at by a man outside Waterstones in Chelmsford High Street as they made their way home at 1am on Easter Saturday morning.

The man then stabbed the victim in the head several times before walking off - probably with blood on his clothes.

The victim required stitches. He was treated and has now been released from hospital.

The attacker was white, 5ft 8ins tall and of average build, with short dark hair. He was wearing dark jeans and a long cream duffel coat with a semi-circle pattern on the back.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to call Chelmsford police on 01245 491212.
