Bikers bring sweet treats to ill children

From the archive, first published Wednesday 11th Apr 2007.

CHILDREN staying at Chelmsford hospitals were handed Easter treats last weekend by big-hearted motorbike riders.

The Chelmsford and District Advanced Motorcyclists delivered chocolate eggs, donated by Sainsbury's, to children staying at Broomfield and St John's Hospital, on Easter Sunday.

Motorcyclists visited the Moonbeam and Sunshine wards at the hospitals, where they handed the eggs to grateful youngsters.

John Passfield, chairman of the charity bikers group, said the riders were always happy to make life a little better for people in unfortunate situations.

"Some of the children on these wards are permanent residents and we thought it would be lovely to make the day special for them and for those who are in hospital over the holiday," he said.

"Charitable events like this are what we believe in."
