Clacton: Council apologises over fine blunder

From the archive, first published Thursday 12th Apr 2007.

A RED-faced seaside council has apologised to frustrated coastal daytrippers who threatened to boycot the resort after being booked for parking.

Tom Cullen was among the thousands who flooded to Clacton to enjoy the sun and sand on Easter Sunday.

But he ended up with a parking ticket for using a coach space at the Martello Bay area.

The council has since admitted it relaxed the restrictions over Easter and has vowed to quash the fines.
