Soccer: it's crunch time for Seasiders

From the archive, first published Thursday 12th Apr 2007.

Clacton Town are bracing themselves for a match which could make-or-break their season, when they entertain King's Lynn Reserves on Saturday.

The Seasiders are in the midst of a survival battle near the foot of the Ridgeons League premier division table and need three points against their fellow strugglers at the Rush Green Bowl.

Town are fourth-from-bottom while Lynn are one place above by virtue of their superior goal difference - both have 34 points from 36 games.

It promises to be one of the most important matches of the season and Clacton co-owner and secretary Stephen Andrews said: "It's a truly massive game - potentially the biggest since myself and the other owners took over.

"If we win we go above King's Lynn and, if other results go our way, could be as good as safe.

"On the other hand, if we lose we'll have a real fight on our hands.

"It's going to be a really tough game and the prize for the winners could be huge."
