Teenager is given an Asbo

From the archive, first published Thursday 12th Apr 2007.

A NUISANCE teenager has been given a three-year antisocial behaviour order (Asbo) banning him from a town centre and a shopping village.

Nicky Greer, 18, of Coldnailhurst Avenue, Braintree, was issued with the Asbo by Harlow magistrates.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Nicky Greer is a persistent offender and publicising this Asbo is in the interests of public safety, and is necessary to demonstrate to him, his associates and the community that action is being taken."

The conditions of the Asbo state that Greer must not:

n Unlawfully assault, abuse, threaten or intimidate any person, including the use of any insulting or abusive words or gestures, and must not incite or encourage any other person to do so.

n Interfere with any property belonging to another without the expressed consent of the owner of that property. Examples include interfering with security systems, throwing objects, kicking fencing, banging on shop shutters and causing nuisance with shopping trolleys.

n Remain in any shop or commercial premises once asked by staff to leave.

n Enter Co-op stores in Challis Lane and Cressing Road, Braintree.

n Open or try to open any packaging or interfere with or attempt to remove any security device on any item being sold in any shop or commercial premises, until the items have been paid for.

n Enter the town centre area on foot or by bicycle, unless accompanied by a police officer or to attend the Job Centre in Fairfield Road, for the purposes of signing on and prior appointments.

n Enter any shop premises at Freeport designer outlet village.
