Town have to wait for title

From the archive, first published Sunday 15th Apr 2007.

Eton Manor 1, Brentwood Town 1

Though Brentwood will regard this as two points dropped, the one they won has eased them ever closer to the Essex Senior League title and they could now be crowned champions on Tuesday evening.

First they will have to beat Bowers and Pitsea in Monday evening's match at the arena which will give them 66 points.

The only side that can match them on that ttally are Romford, who also drew 1-1 on Saturday at Bowers, but it they fail to take maximum points against Sawbridgeworth on Tueday, it's Blues' title - and they have a significantly better goal difference anyway.

Saturday's clash against eton Manor at Tilbury was a tough game and Blues had to settle for a point with Tommy Lee equalising with a terrific free kick in the 62nd minute to cancel out Luchien Ntolla's goal three minutes earlier.
