From the archive, first published Monday 23rd Apr 2007.

AN ELDERLY woman's possessions have been found on a beach after she disappeared from her home.

Police are appealing for help to find Hannah Phillips, 76, who disappeared from her Rayleigh home on Friday, April 13.

At about 2pm yesterday afternoon, a bag full of her belongings were found on a beach at Broadway, in Jaywick, Clacton.

Mrs Phillips is described as white, around 5ft 2ins tall with collar-length grey hair and a pale complexion. She wears glasses and could also be wearing a full-length beige trenchcoat.

Inspector Andy Parkman, of Rochford Police, said: "We know Hannah has connections in the Jaywick area and are appealing for anyone who has seen her, or Hannah herself, to contact police as soon as possible so we can check she is OK and let her family know she is well."

Police suspect Mrs Phillips may be staying at a guesthouse and have urged owners to keep a look out.

Anyone with information can contact police on 01268 775533.
