TEACHER Paul Davis challenged kids from his school to guess how long he would take to run the 26 miles of the London Marathon.
Pupils at Saint Anne Line Roman Catholic Junior School, in Basildon, paid £1 to enter a competition.
It was Amy Kavanagh, ten, who guessed correctly - three hours and 42 minutes.
The children's contributions, combined with sponsorship from Mr Davis's friends and family, raised almost £1,000 for children's hospice Little Havens.
He said: "It was funny because I did the same thing last year and Amy guessed my time then, which was 28 minutes longer.
"I would like to thank everyone who got behind me.
"Knowing I was running for a children's charity really drove me on to finish the race."
