A MUM had an unwelcome guest for tea when she found a maggot in her sweetcorn.
Charlotte Mills, of The Drive in Great Clacton, was making dinner for her children Olivia, eight, and Nathan, four, when she came across the creature.
"I was about to test the sweetcorn after heating it up and had some on a spoon," said Mrs Mills, who works at Burrsville Infant School.
"I looked down and saw the maggot - luckily I didn't just eat it!"
She added: "Sweetcorn's usually the only thing my daughter will eat, she absolutely loves it and I was pleased because it's good for her.
"But she's a bit put off now."
Mrs Mills took the Bettabuy tin back to the Little Clacton store where she purchased it last week.
"All they did was offer me another one," she said.
"When I said no they offered me a refund of 17p!
"I think they could have done more really."
A spokeswoman for Morrison's said: "We are sorry to hear of Ms Mill's complaint and can confirm that the product has been returned to the Little Clacton store where she was given a full refund.
"A full investigation will now take place and Ms Mills will be informed of the outcome."
She added: "The quality of all theproductswe sellis of paramount importance to us."
