BABY Nathan Keith Toms took everyone by surprise when he popped into the world early - in the front seat of his parents' car!
Mum Sarah Perkins, 24, had barely left her home, in Roodegate, Basildon, when she realised it was too late.
Sarah and partner Keith, 30, called an ambulance and braced themselves in the front of their parked car.
Sarah, who also has a son
Tyler-jae, four, was a few days overdue, but after a hospital check, she went home to rest.
After a sleep, Sarah planned to return to hospital, but baby Nathan had other ideas.
She said: "As my partner Keith and I walked out to the car, I realised we were going to need an ambulance."
Paramedic Louise Lindsey was first on the scene and delivered her first baby. She said: "Sarah was not in the ideal position to give birth, with the lower half of her body hanging out of the car, but it was too late to move her."
