Toy store’s prize draw for charity

From the archive, first published Tuesday 3rd Apr 2007.

A TOY store is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year by raising money for charity.

Argosy Toyshop, in London Road, Westcliff, wants to mark the landmark by getting as much money as possible for the Southend branch of the Huntington's Disease Association.

Owner Paul Wohl, manager Richard Turner and internet salesman Sam McDonagh have been holding raffles, dances and quiz nights to bring in the cash.

They are now raffling a Thomas the Tank railway complete with ten battery powered trains.

The special prize draw will be held on Easter Saturday at 4.30pm.

Huntington's Disease is a rare, hereditary brain condition that currently can't be cured. Symptoms include depression, rage, slurred speech and involuntary movements.
