Shed-loads of help for school

From the archive, first published Tuesday 3rd Apr 2007.

BIG-HEARTED builders popped into Willowfields pre-school to repair a fence and build a shed to store garden toys.

The school, based at Steepleview Community Hall, Laindon, has been targeted by vandals and it is hoped the improvements will help keep them at bay.

Tara Humphries, a spokeswoman for Laindon-based Travis Perkins, said: "Now the children will have clean, safe toys away from any vandals."

Across the UK teams from Travis Perkins branches are determined to complete a company charity mission called 1,000 projects in a 1,000 places in a 1,000 days.

Teams will be involved in numerous community activities including painting over graffiti.
