The Gazette is campaigning to close a loophole in the law covering children's nightwear. At present, flowing nightdresses and dressing gowns must be made from flame-retardant materials - but the law doesn't cover children's pyjamas as they are considered close-fitting. The family of toddler Daniel Mitchard-Harrison found this out the hard way: his pyjama shorts went up in flames in seconds, leaving him with severe burns. We spoke to Bruce Philp, consultant plastic surgeon at Chelmsford burns unit, who is backing the Gazette campaign.   more...
