Clacton: The future's green

From the archive, first published Tuesday 25th Sep 2007.

YOUNGSTERS at a Clacton nursery have been going green as part of an environmental competition.

The children, who attend Nanna's in Pathfields Road, have been battling it out with kids from the nursery's Colchester and Point Clear branches, and were judged on their handiwork today.

Flowers were donated by B&Q as well as recycling packs from Oxfam, while the children also painted images of their carbon footprints.

Manager, Denise Hawke, said: "It's all gone really well.

"We will find out if we have won on Saturday."

This weekend also marks the ten year anniversary of the nursery, with a community fun day being held, which will include animals, majorettes and face painting.

Everyone is welcome to the event, which takes place on Saturday between 10am and 2pm.
