From the archive, first published Thursday 31st Jan 2008.

Shoppers and traders today welcomed a major revamp of Clacton Shopping Village - which could create 200 hundred jobs.

Clacton Shopping Village has been bought by investment company Rom Capital which specialises in reviving neglected shopping centres.

The London-based company has bought the Stephenson Road site from Southern Outlet Centres Ltd.

Capital has not said how much money it is pumping into the project but centre manager Allan Hassell said it would be "substantial" amount, with a potential for doubling the centre workforce.
